My work aims at deciphering the biophysical principles governing the organisation and activity of membrane nano-machines on the surface of biological cells.  To that end, I make use of the tools available from membrane biophysics and DNA nanotechnology to construct from the bottom-up artificial cells with life-like functionalities. These cell-like objects are useful model platforms to deepen our understanding on biological phenomena in isolation from physiological complexity, and they carry immense potential as next-generation biotechnologies for healthcare and bio-medicine.
